Paul Simon penned "The Sound Of Silence" (aka "The Sounds Of Silence") for the 1964 album 'Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M.'. The acoustic folk rock song was re-recorded as the title track for a Simon & Garfunkel album issued 2 years later.
Its lyrics describe the state of society at the time. It deals with the shallow and sterile relations between individuals. The verses still resonate to this day.
