THE 37 EUROVISION 2024 SONGS ranked in order. Today: #20-16.  More: in 2 days.

EUROVISION 2024

THE 37 SONGS

(in order of preference)

The number of competitors for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest has remained the same with Romania withdrawing and Luxembourg returning after an absence of 31 years. This year, the ESC will be held in host city Malmö, Sweden in May following that country’s seventh win in 2023. Caffè Lattè has ranked all of the 37 entries in terms of sonic quality, as it does annually. The higher the ranking, the better the song.

This year, all of the 37 entries have redeeming qualities. Unusually, there is no major standout, but none of the songs for the 2024 Contest are woeful. Therefore, even the songs at the bottom are not there because of low appeal, but because the ones ranked higher are slightly superior.

*Note that a live performance and the on-stage presentation may alter the overall impact of a song once the Semi-Finals begin.

PEDESTAL

Aiko

Czechia

This empowering song may increase its chances of a high finish during Semi-Final 2. It certainly deserves to qualify for the Grand Final. Aiko is from Czechia and now based in the UK.

19

LOOP

Sarah Bonnici

Malta

Much will depend on the performance presented by Sarah Bonnici as the first entry heard in Semi- Final 2. The song may sound too similar to recent ESC entries, but it is more modern and its beat should help it qualify. Bonnici contributed to the song’s composition.

The artwork for Loop by Sarah Bonnici. Features Sarah posing against a red background, with the word Loop staggered around her.

18

SAND

Saba

Denmark

Flying the flag proudly for inclusion this year is SABA. She is the first brown gay woman to represent Denmark. “Sand” is a strong entry and deserves to progress into the Grand Final from the second semi-final.

The cover artwork for "Sand". The cover features Saba in a black and white filter. Above her, the words "Sand" are printed in black.

17

TERESA & MARIA

Alyona Alyona & Jerry Heil

Ukraine

This year’s Ukrainian entry brings together two popular celebrities in the Ukraine. The song has remained among the strong contenders in this year’s betting. It is one of the likeliest entries to qualify for the Grand Final.

The cover artwork for "Teresa & Maria". The cover features Alyona and Heil amongst a grey background.

16

HURRICANE

Eden Golan

Israel

The Israeli entry will be heard towards the end of Semi-Final 2. Eden Golan will sing in English and Hebrew. It will be interesting to see if the conflict in Gaza will help or hinder “Hurricane”.

The cover artwork for "Hurricane". It features Eden Golan amongst a yellow background, with a sun behind Golan illuminating her.

LIAR

Silia Kapsis

Cyprus

Although of Greek and Cypriot descent, Silia Kapsis was born and raised in Australia. The song is far from remarkable. Cyprus seems to be sending entries that sound similar of late. “Liar” should qualify for the Grand Final, but it will not bring the country its first Eurovision victory.

The cover artwork for "Liar". The cover features Silia Kapsis in a black bra and a gold-colored shirt, with her right hand displaying a "L" sign.

24

ZORRA

Nebulossa

Spain

Spain has gone with a new approach. The country’s entry will be performed in Spanish by the duo Nebulossa. Its two members wrote “Zorra”. The title means “vixen”.

23

HOLLOW

Dons

Latvia

Latvia will be competing in Semi-Final 2 with the power ballad “Hollow”. The song is in English now although it was initially in Latvian. This is a pleasant song and Dons should deliver it with conviction. He deserves to qualify for the Grand Final, but it is in a tough heat.

The cover artwork for "Hollow". The cover features Dons in a blue outfit looking up, surrounded by others with the same outfit as him.

22

ÖZUNLE APAR

Fahree featuring Ilkin Dovletov

Azerbaijan

FAHREE co-wrote Azerbaijan’s entry. Its title means “take me with you” and will be performed in Azerbaijani and English. The song should stand out from the bulk of the competition in Semi-Final 1. FAHREE will be on stage with Ilkin Dovletov.

Cover artwork for "Özünlə apar". Features Fahree and İlkin Dovletov stood against a faded red background.

21

THE TOWER

Luna

Poland

LUNA can write songs in both English and Polish. She contributed to the creation of “The Tower”. It will be sung in English during the first Semi-Final. This song is catchy and moves. Hopefully, it won’t be overshadowed by its competitors as this deserves a slot in the Grand Final.

The cover artwork for "The Tower". The cover features Luna in a red and white outfit amongst a grey background. In the middle of the image, the words "The Tower" in red are printed.
