These songs are well known but you may not know about the earlier attempts to score a hit record with prior versions of the same song.

Bang-A-Boomerang

"Bang-A-Boomerang" was written by ABBA's Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus with their manager Stig Anderson. Following the Swedish group's triumph at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 with "Waterloo", the writers were asked to submit a new song for the annual competition. 

Instead of ABBA participating again, the song was passed on to labelmates Svenne & Lotta. In the Swedish selections, Melodifestivalen 1975, the couple finished in 3rd place. 

With "Bang-A-Boomerang" missing out on Eurovision, ABBA included its version on the 1975 'ABBA' album. The song was lifted as a single in some territories.
