These songs are well known but you may not know about the earlier attempts to score a hit record with prior versions of the same song.

I’m A Believer

The upbeat "I'm A Believer" proved to be a major hit for The Monkees. Released in 1966, the single topped the charts in many countries, including America, Britain, Canada and Australia.

Smash Mouth covered the song for the box office hit film 'Shrek' in 2001. In the United States, the disc climbed to #25. It fared better in Australia, where the single peaked at #9.

"I'm A Believer" was written by Neil Diamond. He recorded it for his 'Just For You' album. It was often performed at the singer/ songwriter's concerts.
