BEFORE IT WAS A
HIT SONG…
These songs are well known but you may not know about the
earlier attempts to score a hit record with prior versions of the same song.
You’re No Good
Linda Ronstadt released "You're No Good" in late 1974. The disc climbed to #1 in America, becoming her first major hit worldwide. It was included on her 'Heart Like A Wheel' album.
The song had previously charted for British Merseybeat group The Swinging Blue Jeans in 1964 (UK #3) and American R&B singer Betty Everett the year before.
Dee Dee Warwick (the sister of Dionne Warwick and cousin of Whitney Houston) recorded the original version in 1963. It failed to reach the American Hot 100.
Each new song will be added to the
spotify playlist named: ‘Before It Was A Hit Song’. You can check out the previous earlier /
original versions of the hit songs you know and love.
