LONG TRAIN RUNNIN’
Doobie Brothers
1973 US #8
Trivia: Tom Johnston was the pivotal member of The Doobie Brothers in its early incarnation. The founding member wrote "Long Train Runnin'" which was lifted off the band's 1973 album 'The Captain And Me'. By 1977, he had departed the band in the hope of launching a solo career. Michael McDonald took the helm and while Johnston's solo pursuits failed, The Doobies enjoyed even greater success.
