These songs are well known but you may not know about the earlier attempts to score a hit record with prior versions of the same song.

Love Ballad

George Benson charted in both America and Britain with "Love Ballad". Lifted as a single off his 'Livin' Inside Your Love' album in 1979, the track peaked at #3 on the US Soul Chart.

Benson's version was a remake of a previous hit song originally issued 3 years prior by the R&B group  L.T.D. That recording topped the US Soul Chart and reached the Top 20 on the American Pop listing.
