ENERGY: POINTER SISTERS
 Energy Pointer Sisters album.jpg
 [1978]
Teaming The Pointer Sisters with talented producer Richard Perry was a wise decision. Together, they would embark on a new career trajectory for the trio. The siblings' strength was their ability to cover a range of musical genres masterfully. 'Energy' is an album that showcases that asset best. Today, the trio is best remembered for its 80s dance hits such as "I'm So Excited". In 1978, the group was languishing. 'Energy' changed everything. The LP offered an array of styles. Even with some of the filler, the interest is maintained with the variety of source material. The sisters apply their own spin on songs by Fleetwood Mac ("Hypnotized"), Steely Dan ("Dirty Work"), Bruce Springsteen ("Fire"), The Doobie Brothers ("Echoes Of Love"), Stephen Stills ("As I Come Of Age"), Sly & The Family Stone ("Everybody Is A Star") and Allen Toussaint ("Happiness"). The Pointer Sisters radically transform the former into a highlight of their songbook. 'Energy' is definitely an album Ruth, June & Anita Pointer can be proud of.
Highlight tracks: Hypnotized; Happiness; Fire & Echoes Of Love.
