The 1983 film 'The Outsiders' featured the stunning "Stay Gold", one of Stevie Wonder's underrated recordings.

A LOVER'S CONCERTO
The Supremes
Supremesymphony.jpgThe Toys' 1965 hit "A Lover's Concerto" was covered by The Supremes for the trio's 'I Hear A Symphony' album. The LP was issued a year later. Brian Holland and Lamont Dozier produced the remake.

I DON'T KNOW WHY
Stevie Wonder
The maturing Stevie Wonder co-wrote and co-produced the darker "I Don't Know Why I Love You". Included on his 1968 album 'For Once In My Life', the track was lifted as a single that charted the following year and made the US, UK and European charts.

Diana Ross & The Supremes recorded "Then", a song written by Smokey Robinson with 2 fellow members of The Miracles: Warren Moore & Robert Rogers; for the 1968 album 'Reflections'.

Diana Ross
A new man arrives on the scene and 2 friends are vying for his affection. This Diana Ross song was written and produced by Nickolas Ashford & Valerie Simpson. On her 1979 'The Boss' album, it was the opening track.

Stevie Wonder
"Summer Soft" uses the changing of seasons again as a metaphor for a relationship. The track was 1 of the delights on his opus 'Songs In The Key Of Life' album. Wonder penned and produced the track from his 1976 classic LP.

BABY DON'T CHA WORRy
Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell
Marvin Gaye's duets with Tammi Terrell soon became the new benchmark. Few collaborators have matched the chemistry between the 2 Motown performers. "Baby Don't Cha Worry" is an obscure, but perky duet found on the 1968 'You're All I Need' album.

ALL I NEED IS TIME
Gladys Knight & The Pips
Motown compiled a number of leftovers for a 'new' album by Gladys Knight & The Pips. In 1973, 'All I Need Is Time' was issued after the group's split with the label. The title track features Knight not holding back in her recount of another heart wrenching tale. It's an awe-inspiring vocal execution.

"G.I.T. On Broadway" was a TV special screened on American television in 1969. A soundtrack album followed. This was the 2nd joint project by Motown's 2 premiere groups: Diana Ross & The Supremes with The Temptations. On the LP, they collaborate on a remake of "The Rhythm Of Life" from the stage musical "Sweet Charity". In Australia, the track was released as a single and it peaked at #5.
