but you may not know about the earlier attempts to score a hit record with
prior versions of the same song.
Denis
Blondie's 2nd album 'Plastic Letters' featured the hit single "Denis". The familiar version includes a verse where Debbie Harry sings in French. It reached #1 on the European Chart in 1978 and peaked at #2 in Britain.
The original version of "Denis" was entitled "Denise". Blondie's remake changed the subject's gender to a male. American doo wop group Randy & The Rainbows released the first version of the song in 1963. This recording was a Top 10 hit in the USA.
