THE 200 MOST ESSENTIAL ALBUMS. This post: #10. Continues: next weekend with the album ranked No. 9.
Caffé Latté presents the  all-time
200
MOST ESSENTIAL
ALBUMS
Frank Sinatra is generally credited as the first artist to release a concept album. Until then, the pop market was focused almost exclusively on the single. Albums merely consisted of a compilation of recently issued product with filler to capitalize on a successful hit song. During the 1960s, albums gradually built up credibility and by the 1970s, had become as integral as the single. The era of ‘classic albums’ had emerged, led by acts such as The Beatles, Beach Boys, Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin and David Bowie.
This Top 200 list includes albums that broke new ground; expanded the sonic landscape and influenced the music that followed. They have been ranked according to impact on the sound of rock and pop music, popularity, sales and timeless quality.

NEVER MIND THE BOLLOCKS
HERE’S THE SEX PISTOLS
SEX PISTOLS
1977
Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols.png
Look beyond the controversy and shock tactics exploited by The Sex Pistols to accurately appreciate the impact of the punk group's debut album 'Never Mind The Bollocks Here's The Sex Pistols'. It was the very fact that the sound was raw and unrefined that intensified its influence. Countless others of limited musical ability were inspired to make music as a result.
Timing is everything. At the time the band delivered this LP, rock music was dominated by acts that aimed to create studio perfection. To many purists, the priority of stadium rock bands appeared to be making money rather than making a statement. Disco ruled the charts and even die-hard rock acts were succumbing to the dance market.
The arrival of The Sex Pistols was a rude jolt. As the antithesis of current musical trends, the band was unpolished and repellent to the mainstream, but underneath its unattractive image, there was a truth.
Unleashed around the time of the Queen's Silver Jubilee, The Sex Pistols took aim at the establishment and the ills affecting England at the time. They also take a swipe at EMI, the label that terminated its contract with the group.
There's plenty of energy and vitriol, with the strongest tracks on The Sex Pistols' only album being "Pretty Vacant", "Liar", 'E.M.I.", "Problems", "God Save The Queen" and "Anarchy In The U.K.".
'Never Mind The Bollocks Here's The Sex Pistols' has had a lasting impact on rock music. Its influence can be heard on acts such as Green Day, The Jam, The Stone Roses, Guns N' Roses, The Clash, Nirvana and The Police.
