PLEASE PLEASE ME
THE
BEATLES
1963
Few debut albums contain as many exciting seismic moments as 'Please Please Me', the first LP from The Beatles. The album consists of covers with some new songs composed by John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Remarkably, it's often the originals that outshine the remakes here.
Of the covers, the best is the Fab Four's take on The Isley Brothers' "Twist And Shout". The fledgling songwriters produce the goods with classic tracks such as: "I Saw Her Standing There", "Love Me Do", "Do You Want To Know A Secret?", "P.S. I Love You" and the title track.
With this debut collection of material, Lennon, McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr began their worldwide domination. Little wonder that the planet succumbed.
