Part 21: 2010 (Invasión Escénica).
Continues tomorrow.
THE BIGGEST
CONTROVERSIES
Of the
EUROVISION
SONG CONTEST
(1956
- 2019)
From
its inaugural year, the Eurovision Song Contest has had more than its fair
share of controversial moments. This is a special look back on 30 significant upsets
in chronological order.
2010
Invasión
Escénica.
In 2010, many participants of the Eurovision Song Contest were
dealing with economic woes arising from the global financial crisis. Oslo was
the host city that year following a record-breaking win for Norway in 2009 with
“Fairytale”.
The second entry performed during the 2010 Grand Final was the Spanish
song “Algo Pequeñito” (Something Tiny), performed by Daniel Diges. His
rendition was interrupted by a stage invasion. Diges returned to the stage to
perform his song a second time before voting began. He finished in 15th
place out of a field of 25 finalists.
Sadly, this was not the last stage invasion to interrupt a
performance. SuRie bravely carried on when a stranger emerged on the stage as
she sang the UK entry “Storm” and grabbed her microphone.
