The Rip Chords was a group formed in California that featured in its line-up Terry Melcher and Bruce Johnston. The former is the son of Doris Day and is more famous for his work as a producer (including The Byrds). Johnston is best remembered as a member of The Beach Boys. Together, they wrote "Hey Little Cobra", the group's biggest hit single.
