DID YOU EVER HAVE TO MAKE UP YOUR MIND?
The Lovin’ Spoonful
1966
U.S.A. - #2
Trivia:
John Sebastian penned "Did You Ever Have To Make Up Your Mind?" in a taxi cab on the way to a recording session. His group The Lovin' Spoonful cut the track for its debut album 'Do You Believe in Magic'. After "Daydream", the title track from its second LP peaked at #2, "Did You Ever Have To Make Up Your Mind?" was lifted off the previous album. This proved a wise strategy. The Rolling Stones prevented the single from topping the charts with "Paint It Black", but the follow-up: "Summer In The City" gave the US group a #1 hit.
