CAFFE` LATTE` TOP 2000 TRACKS

#165 REAL MEN Joe Jackson
Joe Jackson had broken through as a key songwriter in the punk/ new wave genre. By the time of his 'Night And Day' album in 1982, the singers music had crossed over and took on new styles. The lead single from his latest collection was the classy piano ballad "Real Men". its sound was influenced by songwriters George Gershwin and Cole Porter.
The track was composed by Jackson. He co-produced the cut with David Kershenbaum. "Real Men" was recorded at Blue Rock Studio in Soho, New York. Jackson at the keyboard was the pivotal feature of the new track. Dropped as a single, it proved to be particularly successful on the Australian chart, reaching a peak position of #6.
Jackson continued recording and placed other noteworthy songs on the charts, including "Left Of Centre" (with Suzanne Vega), "Nineteen Forever" and "Down To London". Later, Jackson explored classical music before returning to the pop/ rock genre this century. His most recent album, 'The Duke' in 2012, was a re-interpretation of the music of jazz legend Duke Ellington.

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
A new song from the Top 200 is added each day, while another 2 are also included from positions 1501-2000 daily. Check back here every 12 hours for an update of the 2000.
