CAFFE` LATTE` TOP 2000 TRACKS
THE TOP 100
#49 WHO LOVES YOU
THE FOUR SEASONS
(1975)
Writers: Bob Gaudio & Judy Parker
By 1975, The Four Seasons had ceased to be a chart force. Their most recent entry had been the single "Patch Of Blue" 5 years earlier, which had only managed to reach #94. It had been the legendary band's sole chart appearance during the 1970s thus far. Its most recent Top 40 hit was "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" in 1968. In the meantime, lead singer Frankie Valli had persisted with his solo career. 1974 saw him at #1 in America with "My Eyes Adored You". Having noticed the resurgence of The Bee Gees thanks to its new dance-oriented sound; Bob Gaudio decided The 4 Seasons also ought to embrace the new disco trend. He and his future wife Judy Parker co-wrote "Who Loves You". It returned the band to the US Top 3 for the 1st time in a decade.
The name of the song was inspired by Telly Savalas portraying the title role in the TV series "Kojak". His character would often say: "who loves ya, baby?". Valli was prevalent on lead vocals here, but had started relinquishing that task to drummer Gerry Polci. Gaudio produced the track. He had previously been 1 of the 4 Seasons, but quit performing to concentrate on writing and producing for the band.
The 'Who Loves You' album was unleashed in 1975. The title track reached #3 in the USA and peaked at #6 in Britain. The follow-up single "December 1963 (Oh What A NIght)", also included on the LP, became the group's 1st US #1 since 1964. It also topped the UK chart.
The group's story was made into a musical. In 2013, Clint Eastwood directed the film adaptation of 'The Jersey Boys'. Valli continues to record and perform. Gaudio has worked in recent years with his fellow bandmate Valli, Barry Manilow and Neil Diamond as a producer/ arranger.

This
is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I
cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks.
Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have
universal appeal.
They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal
choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a
better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
A
new song from the remaining Top 100 is added each weekday, while another 2 are also
included from positions 1501-2000 daily. Check back here every 12 hours
for
an update of the 2000.
