"There Must Be Another Way" is a shining example of the unity so desperately needed in Israel. This duet was performed by 2 women: a Jew and an Arab, singing in Hebrew and Arabic respectively.

LYS ASSIA
{Switzerland; 1956-8}

As the performer of "Refrain", the winning entry at the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest in 1956, Lys Assia secured herself a place in the annual event's history. She returned to defend her title the following year, finishing in 8th place (out of 10 songs). In 1958, Assia represented Switzerland for the 3rd consecutive year. Her song "Giorgio" was sung in Italian, unlike her previous 2 which had been performed in French. Assia's song was the runner-up. In 2011 she competed in the Swiss selection, hoping to represent her homeland a 4th time.
