BAT OUT OF HELL
MEAT LOAF
 (1977)
An album as epic as 'Bat Out Of Hell' required a cover to match it and Richard Corben provided just that. There's the bat mentioned in the album title atop a church steeple. In a reference to the title track's lyrics (and the roar heard at the start of the song), there is a motorcycle blasting its way out of the depths of hell. The vehicle is now airborne, with various graves beneath it. This cover is colourful and conveys the gothic image of the music. Not only is Meat Loaf's name featured, but credit is also given to songwriter Jim Steinman. No doubt, the cover was another drawcard that helped make 'Bat Out Of Hell' the classic album that it is.
