To be eligible, the acts involved contribute close to equal roles as lead vocalists rather than featured or guest vocals. The collaborations must be by acts that do not usually record together as regular duos (eg. Hall & Oates, Everly Brothers, Simon & Garfunkel and Wham!).

BRITNEY SPEARS & MADONNA

LAY ME DOWN
SAM SMITH & JOHN LEGEND
The original version of "Lay Me Down" was a solo recording on Sam Smith's 'In The Lonely Hour' album. That take was issued as a single in 2013. Following his international breakthrough, Smith re-recorded the track and, in 2015, the new version fared far better on the charts. That year, a 3rd take was issued, with the addition of vocals by John Legend. The new version was a charity single promoting Red Nose Day.

Tammiirresistible.jpgMarvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell's 1968 duet album 'You're All I Need' included the cheerful track "Come On And See Me". A solo version appeared on the latter's 'Irresistible' LP.

EVERYTIME YOU CRY
JOHN FARNHAM & HUMAN NATURE
Australian music legend John Farnham teamed up with compatriot boy band Human Nature on the retro R&B throwback "Everytime You Cry" in 1997. The single climbed to #3 in Australia. It was included on Farnham's 'Anthology 1' compilation and the group's 'Counting Down' albums.

The comedic departure with Melissa McCarthy is a welcome change of pace as both women begin as sparring rivals before becoming allies. The song is from 'Annie Get Your Gun'.

One of the highlights on the 1972 Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway eponymous album is the gospel track "Be Real Black For Me". The 2 co-wrote the song with Charles Mann.

ROBBIE WILLIAMS & KYLIE MINOGUE
Robbie Williams wrote "Kids" with Guy Chambers and recorded it as a duet with Australian pop star Kylie Minogue. The song possessed attitude and flew to a UK peak position of #2 in 2000. It was included on his 'Sing When You're Winning' and her 'Light Years' albums.

Disney's 'Aladdin' was a major success and the film's "A Whole New World" won an Oscar and Grammy. The version by Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle was issued as a single in 1992. The disc reached #1 in America.

ALICIA KEYS & BEYONCE`
The Alicia Keys 2010 album 'The Element Of Freedom' contained her duet with Beyoncé. "Put It In A Love Song" was co-written and co-produced by the former.

TEACH ME TONIGHT
MARVIN GAYE & KIM WESTON
Marvin Gaye recorded a cover version of the pop standard "Teach Me Tonight" with Kim Weston in 1966. The cut was produced by Mickey Stevenson. Sadly, Motown chose not to release their remake at the time. It was finally pulled out of the label's vaults for a 1990 Gaye box set.
