BEFORE IT WAS A HIT SONG…
These songs are well known
but you may not know about the earlier attempts to score a hit record with
prior versions of the same song.
Knock On Wood
Amii Stewart's remake of "Knock On Wood" swiftly eclipsed the success of the original version. Her disco interpretation reached #1 in America and Canada in 1979. It reached the Top 10 in Britain and Australia.
The first recording of the song was cut by Eddie Floyd. He co-wrote the R&B composition with Steve Cropper. In 1966, the single dented the American Top 40 and reached #1 on the Soul Chart.
In between, there was a remake released in 1974 by David Bowie which took the song to the British Top 10 for the first time. It was included on the 'David Live' album.
Each new song will be added to the
spotify playlist named: ‘Before It Was A Hit Song’. You can check out the previous 28 earlier /
