Drugs were no longer the recreational creative stimulus of the 1960s by the time James Brown addressed the scourge. In 1972, he released "King Heroin" which was included on his 'There It Is' album.
The track describes the way the drug's addictive power leads addicts to ruin. It doesn't mince words. Brown's delivery is never preachy but spoken with authenticity.
