These songs are well known but you may not know about the earlier attempts to score a hit record with prior versions of the same song.

Sea Of Love

In 1984, Led Zeppelin vocalist Robert Plant charted as a member of The Honeydrippers with "Sea Of Love". The single peaked at #3 in the US and topped the Adult Contemporary Chart.

The song was originally recorded by Phil Phillips. His version was issued in 1959. As well as making #1 on the US R&B chart, the single reached #2 on the Billboard Pop listing.
