EUROVISION 2019: THE DOZEN TO WATCH (Part 3). This concludes the review. More ESC feartures next weekend.
EUROVISION SONG CONTEST 2019
THE DOZEN TO WATCH

The Eurovision Song Contest begins in Tel Aviv on May 14.
Here are 12 entries that are the ones to watch closely from this year’s crop of songs:

IV
SHE GOT ME (SWITZERLAND)
The last Swiss victory was in 1988. That triumph belongs to Celine Dion. This year’s Swiss entry offers Switzerland its best chance of another win in years. “She Got Me” is currently a strong contender. It’s a fun, upbeat dance song. Singer Luca Hänni’s good looks won’t go unnoticed. The song should stand out.

III
ROI (FRANCE)
France’s song has not basked in the spotlight as yet, but this will be advantageous for “Roi”. This entry will be the dark horse to watch during the Grand Final. Its lyrics will resonate. The song is quality with a strong vocal delivery. Could Bilal Hassani give France its first victory since 1977?

II
TOO LATE FOR LOVE (SWEDEN)
Eurovision has delivered more than its fair share of cheesy songs. Sweden’s propensity for schlager has been cast aside for one of its superior entries. “Too Late For Love” has elements of gospel, pop and soul. It’s a radio-friendly song that sounds contemporary. John Lundvik is a talented vocalist. His enthusiasm will be contagious. Expect Sweden to finish high in the Grand Final, if not in the lead.

SOLDI (ITALY)
Eurovision was an Italian concept, based on its annual local San Remo Song Festival.  “Soldi” won that title earlier this year. This song is raw and real. Although not performed in English, the emotional punch of the lyrics will be conveyed thanks to Mahmood’s skill. Already a strong contender, Italy is building momentum and could easily emerge the winning nation.
