With over 40 countries now competing
in the Eurovision Song Contest each year, the overall point scores have risen
sharply in recent years. These are the
highest scoring songs that failed to win:
Fourth is last year’s entry from
Cyprus. “Fuego” accumulated 436 points.
Third place belongs to Sergey Lazarev.
In 2016, the Russian performer wowed the live and TV audiences with “You Are The
Only One”, finishing up with 491 points.
Australia’s Dami Im came second that
same year with the 2nd highest scoring non-winner in ESC history: “Sound
Of Silence”. She netted 511 points.
Still in first place is Bulgaria’s
2017 entry “Beautiful Mess”, performed by Kristian Kostov, which received 615
points.
