#1815 HAPPY BIRTHDAY Stevie Wonder
Created by Stevie Wonder to make Martin Luther King Jr's birthday a national holiday, "Happy Birthday" wound up on his hit album 'Hotter Than July' in 1980. The single peaked at #2 in Britain. It worked and today, January 15 is an annual public holiday in America.
#1816 I DON'T BREAK EASILY Barbra Streisand
In 1978, Barbra Streisand released her 'Songbird' album. The adult contemporary ballad "I Don't Break Easily" was 1 of its standouts. The track was penned by singer/ songwriter Bruce Roberts. Streisand would score success with some of his other compositions over the next 2 years.
The list is a ranking made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I
cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks.
Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have
universal appeal.
They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal
choice. This expanded section now includes songs from the last few years. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
Along with climbing among the remaining Top 100 each day, 2 new songs ranked in positions 1501-2000 will also be added daily.
