A STAR IS BORN (SOUNDTRACK):
BARBRA STREISAND &
KRIS KRISTOFFERSON
[1976]
'A Star Is Born' kept Barbra Streisand high among box office draws in the 1970s. The film's soundtrack became her best selling album up to this point in her impressive career. It is her songs that steal the spotlight on the soundtrack. Co-star Kris Kristofferson adds little to the project, at times even detracting from its assets. Streisand vocally commands her way through the empowering "Queen Bee", "The Woman In The Moon" and "Everything". At the same time, she infuses "Lost Inside Of You" and the Oscar winning love theme "Evergreen" with perfect tenderness and emotion. One can't help but wonder how much better the film and its soundtrack would have been had her initially mooted co-star Elvis Presley been offered the role opposite Streisand.
Highiight tracks: Evergreen (Love Theme from 'A Star Is Born'); Lost Inside Of You; The Woman In The Moon & Everything.
