In 2016, British singer Rumer released an album of new interpretations of songs composed by Burt Bacharach and Hal David. "(They Long To Be) Close To You" was first recorded by Dionne Warwick and became a worldwide hit in the 1970s for The Carpenters. Rumer's vocal quality has often been compared to that duo's lead singer Karen Carpenter.
