These songs are well known but you may not know about the
earlier attempts to score a hit record with prior versions of the same song.
Broken Hearted Me
Two versions of "Broken Hearted Me" were issued during 1979. The most successful of the 2 was a remake recorded by Canadian country crossover artist Anne Murray. Her interpretation reached #12 on Billboard's Hot 100. This version also topped the US Country and Adult Contemporary charts.
Her cover was released in September. The original version was recorded by the American duo England Dan & John Ford Coley. This take appeared on their 'Dr. Heckle And Mr. Jive' album which was issued in March.
