Trivia:
Freda Payne was born in Detroit, Michigan. While still at a young age, Berry Gordy Jr. offered her a contract with his flourishing Motown label. She would score her biggest hit with "Band Of Gold" on Invictus Records. That label had been founded by former Motown songwriter/ producers Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier and Eddie Holland. The trio created many hits for a variety of Gordy's acts, most notably The Supremes. Holland / Dozier/ Holland produced "Band Of Gold". Freda's sister Scherrie Payne achieved fame in 1973 when she joined The Supremes.
