Although credited to the married couple, Spector shut Ike Turner out of the recording sessions. Tina Turner belted out mighty vocals on this timeless classic written by Jeff Barry, Ellie Greenwich and Phil Spector. Issued in 1966, the disc peaked at a disheartening #88 on the US chart. Spector drew little consolation from its #3 peak in Britain and quit music as a result of its poor performance. The single did deserve to chart much higher. In the decades since, the track has evolved into one of rock ‘n’ roll’s gems.
