GETTING CLOSER
While Billy was recording ‘The Bridge’, his tenth studio LP, family life was beginning to affect his passion for music. At home he now had wife Christie Brinkley and daughter Alexa Ray. “Getting Closer” closes the album. The track features Steve Winwood on Hammond organ. Its lyrics find Billy reflecting on those that conned him in his past: “so to every bank in Switzerland that stores my stolen truth, I’m all right because despite the laws, you cannot hide the truth… and if I don’t have this all worked out, still I’m getting closer”.
