THE TIME CAPSULE: THE LOCO-MOTION. More retro tomorrow.
<<<THE T⏳ME CAPSULE<<<
THE LOCOMOTION
Little Eva
1962
U.K. - #2; U.S.A. - #1
Trivia:
Writers Carole King and Gerry Goffin first pitched "The Locomotion" to Dee Dee Sharp. After the song was rejected, the couple's babysitter Little Eva (who recorded the demo version) cut the single. It climbed to #1 and displaced Neil Sedaka's "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do" from the top of the US chart. King had previously been in a relationship with Sedaka who wrote "Oh! Carol" about her.
