"Living Next Door To Alice" was originally recorded by the group New World in 1972. Smokie's remake fared much better. The song was written by Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman. Both men produced Smokie's cover version. The disc reached #1 in many European countries and peaked at #2 in Australia.
