A new decade dawned in 1970 as the 1960s drew to its close. That period's biggest group, The Beatles, called it quits. Later, rock suffered the loss of 2 legendary performers. Diana Ross launched her solo career after leaving The Supremes. Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water" offered reassurance and comfort after the revolutionary winds of the previous decade. It struck a chord. As did John Lennon's "Instant Karma!". Change was afoot. Led Zeppelin further established itself as a hard rock / heavy metal supergroup. Deep Purple and Black Sabbath followed. Elton John broke through with "Your Song". The Jackson 5 scored a string of hit singles. Edwin Starr delivered an athem for peace with "War".
