& pop acts since the start of the Rock Era in 1955.
To be eligible, the songs need to have been first heard in
association with a film from the last 60 years (although some exceptions do
exist where the song gained a higher profile after its use in a motion
picture)- so no songs from “West Side Story”, “Phantom of the Opera”, “Les
Miserables” or “The Sound Of Music” and other films that first started out as
stage musicals.

Ross, in her 2nd film, played fashion designer Tracy Chambers. The
Motown motion picture cast her opposite Billy Dee Williams, her co-star
in 'Lady Sings the Blues', again. That film debut earned Ross an Oscar
nomination for acting. 'Mahogany' gave the singer another solo
chart-topping single and an Academy Award nomination in the Best
Original Song category.

Richard was Britain's answer to Elvis Presley. 'The Young Ones' was a
musical starring the superstar. In the US, the film was entitled 'It's

Streisand tackle the disco genre. The actress was re-united with

Schumacher directed the so-called "Brat Pack" actors in the coming of
age film 'St. Elmo's Fire'. The cast included Rob Lowe, Andrew McCarthy,
Demi Moore and Judd Nelson. John Parr recorded the powerful title song
which reached #1 in America.
