-Janet Jackson becomes the 1st act to place 7 songs from 1 album into the US Top 5.
-Whitney Houston performs "The Star Spangled Banner" at the Super Bowl.
-James Brown is released from prison.
-Janet Jackson signs with Virgin for a record-breaking (for a female) $30 million.
-Michael Jackson signs with Sony for $1 billion.
-Eric Clapton's son Conor dies and inspires "Tears In Heaven".
-Billboard starts using "Soundscan" for its album chart.
-Lollapalooza starts.
-Freddie Mercury dies from AIDS-related complications.
Bryan Adams scored an international smash with the long-running #1 single "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You" from the latest Robin Hood movie. Boyz II Men brought back the vocal group. They were followed by Color Me Badd and All-4-One. Nirvana and Pearl Jam started making inroads with 'Ten' and 'Nevermind'. Both albums would explode into smash hits in 1992.
