M/A/R/R/S explored new sonic and dance territory with "Pump Up the Volume". Eric B. & Rakim pushed the envelope with "Paid In Full". 'Bad', Michael Jackson's follow-up to 'Thriller' was unleashed to an eager public. The film 'La Bamba' revived interest in Ritchie Valens. George Harrison made a comeback. LL Cool J dropped rap's first ballad, "I Need Love". Hip-hop got a new label: Ruthless Records. Ice-T, Dr Dre, Public Enemy, Ice Cube and MC Hammer made inroads during 1987.
