Eurovision had never gone as far east as Baku. After Azerbaijan's win the previous year, the controversial nation hosted the Contest.
Semi-Final 1 was won by the Russian entry "Party For Everybody", performed by the unforgettable Buranovskiye Babushki. The 2nd Semi-Final produced a resounding win for Sweden.
On the night of the Grand Final, the Swedish entry "Euphoria" performed by Loreen enjoyed a convincing win with 372 points. The single was a major hit, achieving sales that exceeded 2 million.
