earlier attempts to score a hit record with prior versions of the same song.
Betcha By Golly Wow
In 1996, Prince released "Betcha By Golly Wow". The disc reached #11 in Britain and #31 in the U.S.A. and was included on his 'Emancipation' album, issued during the same year. This was a rare cover for Prince.
The earlier hit version was recorded by The Stylistics. In 1972, the vocal group's rendition reached #3 in America and #13 in the UK. Their version was an adaptation of the song previously known as "Keep Growing Strong" and issued by Connie Stevens in 1970.
