I NEED A LOVER
Johnny Cougar (/John Mellencamp)
1978 US #28
Trivia: The first single by John Mellencamp was "I Need A Lover". When issued in 1978, the disc was credited to Johnny Cougar. It reached #5 in Australia. This success prompted its re-issue the following year. The single became his first Top 40 American chart entry. His 1983 album 'Uh-Huh' finally included his surname. John Cougar Mellencamp dropped the fake surname for 1991's 'Whenever We Wanted'.
