I'M GONNA TEAR YOUR PLAYHOUSE DOWN. Check back here for the next update.
BEFORE IT WAS A
HIT SONG…
These songs are well known but you may not know about the
earlier attempts to score a hit record with prior versions of the same song.
I’m Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down
In 1984, Paul Young maintained his string of hits with the single "I'm Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down". The disc peaked at #9 in Britain and climbed to #13 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was included on his second studio album 'The Secret Of Association', issued the following year.
The original version of the song was released in 1973 by Memphis Soul vocalist Ann Peebles. Lifted off her 'I Can't Stand The Rain' album, the single dented the lower rungs of the US Soul Chart.
Each new song will be added to the
spotify playlist named: ‘Before It Was A Hit Song’. You can check out the previous earlier /
