100 ESSENTIAL ELTON JOHN
DEEP CUTS
TOO LOW FOR ZERO {1983}
With Bernie Taupin living in America and Elton residing in England, collaborating had been proving difficult. There was never a split and the former continued having a presence on various album releases. ‘Too Low For Zero’ marked a return to form for Elton. It was the first album of all-new John / Taupin compositions and also brought together the old band for the first time in 8 years. In fact, guitarist Davey Johnstone contributed to the writing of one of the LP’s biggest hit singles: “I Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues”. The other major smash on the LP is “I’m Still Standing”, providing Elton with yet another signature song.
