THE LOOK OF LOVE

Dusty Springfield (1967)

Burt Bacharach and Hal David penned many timeless recordings, especially during their prolific period during the 1960s. The team’s talent was to target the right song to some of the finest vocalists of the time. This was especially true in the cases of Dionne Warwick and Dusty Springfield.

The latter recorded thrilling interpretations of their compositions, including “I Just Don’t Know What To Do With Myself”, “Wishin’ And Hopin’” and “The Look Of Love”.

In 1967, a spoof 007 James Bond film entitled ‘Casino Royale’ premiered. It starred Peter Sellers and David Niven. Springfield performed the song “The Look Of Love” for the motion picture. Her recording remains one of the most elegant songs in the Bacharach- David canon. She injected the track with both class and sensuality. The song was nominated for an Oscar.
