CAFFE` LATTE` TOP 2000 TRACKS

#132 SO SAD THE SONG Gladys Knight & The Pips
In 1976, Gladys Knight was cast in the film 'Pipe Dreams'. Her husband Barry Hankerson also appeared in the motion picture. "So Sad The Song" was the hit single from the film. While the movie and its soundtrack album fared poorly, the stunning ballad remains memorable.
"So Sad The Song" was a moving track written by Gerry Goffin and Michael Masser. The 2 had already co-penned "Theme From 'Mahogany'" for Diana Ross; and later would collaborate on hits that included: "Miss You Like Crazy" for Natalie Cole and "Saving All My Love For You" by Whitney Houston.
Gladys Knight & The Pips reached #12 R&B in the USA with "So Sad...". On the AC chart there, it peaked at #3. The single climbed to #20 in Britain and 13 in Australia. The song was 1 of the vocal group's final successes for the Buddah label. By 1979, the family act had signed to Columbia.

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
A new song from the Top 200 is added each day, while another 2 are also included from positions 1501-2000 daily. Check back here every 12 hours for an update of the 2000.
