#135 DON'T RAIN ON MY PARADE Barbra Streisand
The show stopper "Don't Rain on my Parade" is performed during a key moment in the musical "Funny Girl". Barbra Streisand's rendition remains definitive; for which she drew acclaim for in both the stage and screen versions.
Streisand's 1st musical success on Broadway was "I Can Get It For You Wholesale" in 1962. A cast album was issued that year, becoming her 1st musical release. A few months later, she also performed on a studio recording of the show "Pins And Needles". Neither attracted chart success, but they helped introduce America to 1 of its most talented vocalists. 
In 1963, the performer released her debut LP. 'The Barbra Streisand Album'. This reached the Top 10 in both the USA and Australia. In the following year, Streisand scored 2 more Top 10 hit albums. She signed up to do "Funny Girl", portraying the legendary Brice. Streisand would remain the star of the production for more than 2 years. 
The Broadway cast recording of "Funny Girl" was dropped in 1964 and peaked at #2 in America. Her next solo LP, 'People', became her 1st #1 album. She raised her profile further in 1965, with TV specials that spawned more Top 10 albums.
In 1967, Streisand reprised her role as Brice for the screen adaptation. It is this version of "Don't Rain on my Parade" that is included on this Top 2000. The music was composed by Jule Styne , with lyrics from Bob Merrill. Herbert Ross directed the musical number for the film soundtrack. The role earned Streisand a Best Actress Oscar (shared with Katherine Hepburn).
