CAFFE` LATTE` TOP 2000 TRACKS

#149 SUMMER NIGHT CITY Abba
While ABBA never fully immersed itself into the disco genre, the Swedish pop group did create a distinctive approach to the genre that was dominating the pop charts. "Summer Night City" remains the closest that ABBA dabbled in disco.
The song was written by ABBA's 2 male members: Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson. "Summer..." was the 1st song completed at the 'Voulez-Vous' recording sessions. Although it was intended for inclusion on the album (in a longer version with an extended intro), its composers remained dissatisfied with the finished product and the track was omitted. A version was edited for single release prior to the issue of 'Voulez-Vous'. All 4 members contributed lead vocals.
The single reached the charts in 1978. It made #1 in Europe, #5 in Britain and 13 in Australia. Later re-released CD versions of 'Voulez-Vous' included "Summer..." as a bonus track. The full length version was finally included as part of the box set entitled 'Thank You for the Music' in 1994.

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
A new song from the Top 200 is added each day, while another 2 are also included from positions 1501-2000 daily. Check back here every 12 hours for an update of the 2000.
