-Paul McCartney marries Nancy Shevell.
-Katy Perry extends her record to 69 consecutive weeks in the US Top 10.
-Little Mix wins UK's "X Factor".
-Katy Perry ties Michael Jackson's record when she achieves a 5th US #1 single from 1 album.
In 2011, Adele became a household name. Her singles "Rolling In The Deep" and "Someone Like You" dominated radio airwaves and propelled her '21' album to record-breaking chart performances around the planet. LMFAO took their dance music to the top of charts via singles "Party Rock Anthem" and "Sexy And I Know It". Belgian-Australian Gotye was rewarded with a global smash for his adventurous "Somebody That I Used To Know", a duet with Kimbra. 2011 saw the start of the chart assault by a new boy band: One Direction. Another new act discovered during 2011 was Ed Sheeran.
