HOTEL CALIFORNIA: THE EAGLES
[1976]
'Hotel California' finds The Eagles at the group's pinnacle of song craft and musicianship. This can largely be attributed to Don Henley who is involved in writing the bulk of its tracks. Most of these songs remain high points in the band's catalogue. The title track is a radio staple and has been studied for its symbolism. This song, as is the case with the album itself, uses California as a metaphor for America at the time of its bicentennial. The addition of Joe Walsh to the line-up shines best on "Life In The Fast Lane". The songwriting hits new heights on "New Kid In Town" and "The Last Resort". Highlight tracks: New Kid In Town; The Last Resort & Life In The Fast Lane.
