I’M BLACK AND I'M PROUD

“…We’d rather die on our feet

than keep livin’ on our knees...”

James Brown summed up the mounting frustration during the turbulent 1960s. As the demand for civil rights gathered momentum, he unleashed his anthem: "Say It Loud- I'm Black And I'm Proud". The Godfather Of Soul co-wrote the key track with Alfred Ellis. 

Released in 1968, the single made the US Pop Top 10 and reached #1 on the Soul Chart. The track doesn't understate the fact that African-Americans at the time demanded change. 

Sadly, despite the passage of decades and even after an African-American President in the White House for 2 terms; in 2017 there is still inequality and prejudice experienced by that same community.
